Engineered specifically to survive sub-zero temperatures, providing continuous power where conventional batteries fail.
Unlocking battery performance for telecommunication towers, cold chain logistics, and high-altitude microgrids.
Nepal’s electricity generation is heavily dominated by run-of-river hydropower. During winter, freezing temperatures restrict mountain water flows, cutting grid capacity by up to 50%. Businesses and utilities must depend on localized energy storage units that can handle sustained sub-zero operational environments without chemical degradation.
Telecom towers operated by Nepal Telecom and Ncell in northern mountainous zones (e.g., Namche Bazaar, Mustang, and Langtang) routinely drop to temperatures below -20°C. Standard commercial lithium-ion batteries suffer electrolyte freezing, leading to catastrophic cell failure, capacity loss, and sudden communication drops.
The ecotourism and trekking industry relies on independent mountain lodges. Transitioning from noisy, polluting diesel generators to solar-plus-storage microgrids requires battery cells capable of rapid charging and discharging in extreme cold, minimizing maintenance operations in inaccessible locations.
Precision engineered in China, optimized for extreme conditions, and deployed in high-altitude projects globally.
How Guangdong Nuwon Energy solves the low-temperature lithium challenge through advanced material science.
By using low-viscosity carboxylate esters (such as methyl acetate or ethyl acetate) combined with specialized lithium salt formulations (LiFSI / LiPF6), we maintain active ionic conductivity at temperatures as low as -40°C.
We utilize hard carbon or silicon-carbon composite anodes featuring high interlayer distances. This structural design mitigates mechanical stress and avoids lithium deposition (dendrites) during sub-zero operations.
Our smart packs integrate ultra-thin polyimide heating elements directly controlled by the BMS. When a charging current is applied at sub-zero temperatures, the BMS routes power to safely preheat the cells before allowing standard charging.
Targeted energy storage systems designed for local geographical and climate requirements.
Our 48V/51.2V rack-mounted LiFePO4 packs feature integrated heating and long life cycles. Specifically engineered for extreme high-altitude mountain locations across Nepal, they replace lead-acid cells that fail within months due to cold temperatures.
Designed for mountain communities, our deep-cycle cells store daytime solar generation and distribute reliable power during sub-zero Himalayan nights, enabling clean tourism without grid dependence.
We supply lightweight, custom low-temperature lithium polymer (LiPo) cells. These packs power mapping drones and survey gear during high-altitude Himalayan topographic projects, maintaining crucial voltage under heavy wind loads.
Guangdong Nuwon Energy integrates fully automated manufacturing lines and strict QA protocols to deliver unmatched battery consistency.

Simplifying cross-border trade, customs clearance, and local safety certifications.
Our production facilities maintain active ISO9001, CE, UN38.3, and BIS certifications. We ensure that our lithium cells conform fully to the import standards of South Asian markets, enabling hassle-free customs clearances at Kathmandu or dry ports like Birgunj.
Exporting heavy energy storage products across the Himalayas requires durable, vibration-resistant packaging. We ship using heavy-duty, certified UN-spec boxes, protecting cells from physical shock during transit through mountain passes.
Our OEM/ODM engineering teams provide direct assistance. We help project managers in Kathmandu size their battery banks, configure BMS communication protocols (CAN/RS485/Modbus), and optimize thermal management designs.

Get answers to the most common engineering and procurement questions about sub-zero battery operations.
At sub-zero temperatures, the liquid electrolyte within standard lithium batteries becomes highly viscous. This limits the mobility of lithium ions, dramatically increasing internal resistance. If charged below freezing, lithium ions cannot intercalate into the anode carbon layers properly, depositing as metallic lithium on the surface (dendrite formation), which causes short circuits and catastrophic cell damage.
Our high-altitude battery packs utilize two primary approaches: electrochemistry optimization (specialized additives in the electrolyte that remain fluid at -30°C) and an integrated self-heating BMS. When a charging current is detected in sub-zero temperatures, the BMS routes current to integrated heating films, warming the cells to above 5°C before initiating charging.
It depends on the application. For heavy industrial energy storage, telecom towers, and residential systems, LiFePO4 is preferred due to safety and an ultra-long cycle life (up to 10,000 cycles). For aviation mapping, surveying equipment, and drones, LiPo offers the necessary high energy density and lightweight characteristics. For extreme environments requiring ultimate safety and density, Solid-State is the top choice.
Our standard manufacturing lead time is 25–35 days for custom OEM battery packs. Shipments are dispatched from our Guangdong facility to Nepal either via sea-land routes (Guangzhou to Kolkata Port, India, then trucked to Birgunj/Kathmandu) or directly via Lhasa-Kerung/Tatopani border land routes, taking approximately 15–20 transit days.
